Ash-Shams
The Sun
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 001
وَٱلشَّمۡسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا
By the sun and its brightness
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 002
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا
And [by] the moon when it follows it
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 003
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا
And [by] the day when it displays it
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 004
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰهَا
And [by] the night when it covers it
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 005
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا
And [by] the sky and He who constructed it
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 006
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا
And [by] the earth and He who spread it
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 007
وَنَفۡسٖ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا
And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 008
فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَا
And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 009
قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا
He has succeeded who purifies it
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 010
وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 011
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِطَغۡوَىٰهَآ
Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 012
إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشۡقَىٰهَا
When the most wretched of them was sent forth
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 013
فَقَالَ لَهُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقۡيَٰهَا
And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, “[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink
91 – Ash-Shams (The Sun) – 014
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمۡدَمَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمۡ فَسَوَّىٰهَا
But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]
